I know it was the wedding today and didn't the world watch in admiration. I just drew a string without any thought of the wedding but when I finished the tangle made me think of royality and thus the name.

The colors came together this morning and after looking at it I could see the sunrise just cresting the hill to shed light upon the darkness.

Moving on

This morning I decided that I was over thinking about my tangles.....it is hard to stay creative when you are stuck in one mind set.  I find that sometimes my tangles become boring even to me and so I can imagine how they appear to others. I would love to be creative enough to create a masterpiece each and every day but that is not the way it is for me in my art. There are days when things just click and I find myself actually wondering how I came up with something I liked totally. Most of the time I find myself thinking....oh, should I post that? Usually another good day will come just in right moment to keep me motivated. Morris is fabulous and I liked giving it a try but I feel that it eluded me. So on to new things. It was fun trying!

Weekly Challenge #19 - More Morris

I had started this tangle a week ago....well the border, it is from a Molossus pattern and I messed it up. It was in my new journal and I did not want to waste the page. Finally this morning I decided to try and fix it. The challenge is to use a dark background and white on top. I do not have a white pen and my town does not have a place to buy one so I just worked a little backwards by filling in all the spaces I could with black.  Here is my first of the two pieces allowed in the challenge....... it may go further down and not be in the slide presentation as I contemplate new pieces throughout the week. The challenges are so wonderful for my creative desire to go and try new things. I always do more than I should but I just love doing them.

I looked at more of Morris and decided to do this piece taking one of his elements and placing it into a tangle. His colors are muted but somehow they pop!

On this tangle I tried a little shading with white on the black.

On the next few peices I used blackboard and used color pencil. The lines are not as clean as I would like them to be but it was nice to work the peice more of the way described in the challenge.

I was stuck on black and white for several days but last night the color burst out of me

Sometimes I do not feel color inspired but last evening I just wanted to color and so I did! Are you one of those people who just love to recieve a new box of crayons?  I am trying to switch up my colors a bit because my light blue and my purple are down to stubs. I purchased a new set of pencils yesterday but I won't use them until I can't handle the size of the small ones.

Developing patterns seems to be on everyone's mind and I was wondering if I could come up with something myself. So far they are all flowers. I will see how that goes!

Weekly Challenge #18 - EGGZZZZellent

I received an email that makes my over zealous desire to work with eggs a little less so, and so here are some pictures that explain what I mean:

This tree was begun in 1965 with 15 plastic Easter eggs. After a few years they switched to real eggs.....they used the eggs as food first, and in 2010 there were 9,600 eggs on the tree. It takes days to hang and they leave it up 2 weeks before Easter and 1 week after Easter. It is found in Germany!
Well....here is the thing. Eggs have been on my mind for days now and you can tell by looking at my designs. So...... to make it a challenge I tried a totally new concept. I hope you like it!

I used a micron pen and my Staedtler color pencils. They worked great. Be if you try it be sure to let the micron completely dry. Oh and be sure to wash the egg surface or the pen gets gummed up!
Picture
I found that you can smooth the colors with your blending stump and it sort of seals the color to the egg. It gave it a permanence I was really surprised!
Picture
It is really hard to get a good photo. Eggs with color have a glare at almost every angle. I couldn't get a photo with the colors not being a bit faded. I also used a raw egg.... I wanted the mass for handling....but alas...it just rolled off the couch. Good-bye to the colored egg!

I wonder.....could I come up with a pattern?

It seems all good zentangle-ists can come up with a pattern just looking at life. One way I look at life is taking micros of things. This winter was difficult for me because after a little while ice , snow and frost did not bring inspiration. I am beginning to get the bug, but things are not yet to the point of inspiration. I was looking through my micros from last summer and found this photo. It gave me an idea for a pattern.....I tried my hand at drawing it. I am not sure if I want to try and write. This is my attempt at creating the clover.

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, clerk, and appreciator of  art. Sometimes I try to produce some art myself. Mainly I love the art of others. Doodling has been a big part of my life. Notes were never left unadorned. Now that I have found zentangle....doodling      has become more exciting and fun!  I hope you enjoy.
