This morning I was tangling. No plan, no string, just playing with pattern. Suddenly this critter appeared. I did add the legs once he spoke to me there was nothing I could do but give in to my fine feathered friend.

I participate with a group on flickr. I really love visiting the site and looking at all the wonderful ZT's. There are a lot of named tangles that come along. In the beginning my tangles only had an identifying number like IMG_0027-1, then Sandra gave a challenge to name your ZT. I began the search for inspiration in naming my artwork. It is not an easy task. Others are much better at it than I am. Such wonderful things as: A tight squeeze, fat tire collage, Deep blue daze, couch potato, and Day of the Dead. For me I am so imaginative that I come up with things like, Study in Pastel, Challenge 32, and Mushroom House. I really specialize in one liners like: Colored, Runaway, Puff, Shaded, and Ribbons. So you will notice I am without inspiration when it comes to naming my ZT's. So for today I ask a favor. Name that ZT, because any ZT deserves better than I can give. Any suggestions?

The challenge: Use a 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch tile. If you have an official Zentangle tile, great, if not, that’s ok too. The frames I will be using fit this size tile. Use any string you like with these four tangles: Pais (by Mikee Huber), Zedbra (by Laura Harms and Margaret Bremner), Keenees (by Donna Hornsby), and Baton (by moi) to create a response to this challenge. Even though it wasn't intentional it seems all week long my mind has been drawn back to fairy mode. I am anxious for tomorrow's challenge so that I can find a way into a new theme. I love fantasy but I feel trapped and I need new inspiration to find a new path.
A busy day and my first try at a piece of fairyland. Pastels are a fun way to color. I just find them so full of depth. I also find it hard to keep the color off the sides as I slide my hand around. It is nice to have picnic as a program to sort of remove the smudging by adding vignette.
It is Saturday. I will be working for 6 hours at the museum today. How I love the cool morning hours when I can work on my zentangle without interruption. It is okay that my family are not early risers! Now 4:30 a.m. would be early for anyone I suppose. I sold 3 of my bookmarks this week at the art show. I know that isn't really impressive but it was fun anyway. I made this new bookmark to replace one of them. I want the display to still be interesting.
Just relaxing with a couple of new larger tangles. Experimenting with design, space and color.
My last 3 pieces of ZT have been larger. (8 1/2 x 11) and I find myself drawn to pastels to color. It is easier on large pieces to use pastel than to use color pencil , which is a lot more time consuming. I still love to have a piece move forward quickly!.

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, clerk, and appreciator of art. Sometimes I try to produce some art myself. Mainly I love the art of others. Doodling has been a big part of my life. Notes were never left unadorned. Now that I have found zentangle....doodling has become more exciting and fun! I hope you enjoy.
