I almost thought of skipping this challenge....but oh do I love challenges. You see my problem was and is that my mom always said "Remember who you are" and she never encouraged me to put on a mask, because it would give me the option of forgetting. So Mardi Gras was never my idea of fun. I know many love it and look forward to it all year. That is okay, I just don't think that it is my idea of fun. So with this in mind I post my one and only challenge piece.

As always unique and beautiful .The dark space behind ,what is eye hole, give a certain mystery to the drawing .It looks like Venician mask

You did such a beautiful job with this theme. Thank you for trying. I am surprised at the take on my suggestion of wearing masks. I live in a city just outside New Orleans. I went to 3 parades this year, and I didn't see very many parade goers wearing masks. Perhaps simply celebrating life is a better way to explain Mardi Gras, as opposed to wearing masks. I am SO sorry that this suggestion for a challenge was offensive. Maybe I will think first before suggesting. Thanks for opening my eyes to the way you feel.

Just amazing!! I loved the challenge. Didn't give it such deep thought as you did. Simply loved the idea and the colors.

Great tile, but why do I get some eerie feeling..Does it reflect your state of mind about masking? Nice composition, all the same.

I love your mask! We don't have Mardi Gras here but my hubby went to New Orleans on business last year and the conference organisers had a mini parade for all the delegates.....he came home with purple, green, gold beads and a variety of masks for my girls. My take on the mask idea is the hint of something to come, beauty hiding beauty.

What's wrong with a mask if it protects the one behind? Every thoughts about masks are OK with me and I respect that! love 'n greetz, Ellen

See....I'm not a big fan of Mardi Gras either...and especially not masks! That's why I chose beads! Love the color you added to this...exactly how did you do that? My color never looks right! Beautiful work as always!

This is really beautiful. Your feathers are gorgeous! How did you do the purple color behind on the sides? I have never been to Mardi Gras, but the party i went to was a costume party with plenty of food and drink( I had a white wine!, not much of a drinker). There was also lots of music and singing from an entertainer. Lots of children of the hosting family there, from ages 4 to 15. Very nice party.

That purple was an editing program called picnik. They are closing the website in March. I am going to miss the framing edits that I use often to make it look like I have framed my art. Unfortunately I cannot afford to do that in real life.....but why not when digital.

This is lovely, and if I hadn't read your post, I would have said that you put a lot of your heart into this. This would make a fabulous real mask!

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, clerk, and appreciator of art. Sometimes I try to produce some art myself. Mainly I love the art of others. Doodling has been a big part of my life. Notes were never left unadorned. Now that I have found zentangle....doodling has become more exciting and fun! I hope you enjoy.
