Grids, no shading with graphite, a squared and dotted square, no color, I hope I was able to jump out of my comfort zone. Oh, and I didn't let myself throw away a tile that is....so.... not perfect. (It almost makes me cringe) By the way, I do have a tendency to toss a lot.....I know, not cool, but I do!

Your grid work is beautiful. I can see it is not your style, but well done anyway.

I had to laugh at this tile coming from you. What a good job we don't have to restrict ourselves to conventions! The tile is tidy, with lots of silly grid patterns and awesome discipline, not to mention your drawing skill. No one would believe anyone with such a gift for invention and elegance could come up with something this conventional. So you fulfilled the challenge remarkably well.

This is a totally unexpected tile coming from you. Great you came out of your comfortzone so far!

It is interesting what people consider to be their "danger" zone. I think most people do expect you to have a flowing tile as opposed to the grids. I really like your Etcher and the one underneath it. I cannot remember the name of it. For me part of this challenge is what did you learn. Did it reinforce something or did it put you in a position to push yourself to try something that was not a part of your comfort zone because you did not want to fail.

That is a good question.....hummmm.......I did find that the grid patterns are full of interst and beauty......I also found that it is hard for me to be geometric,,,,,the lines are not straight even when I try. I do love tangling in any form and it was fun!

Oh, and I did find that I missed the shading.....the lines felt naked! 10/30/2013 11:26:42 pm
I love this tile... it reminds me of a patchwork quilt! I wish I could give you some of my sort of rigid geometric comfort in exchange for some of your flowing, organic comfort!

I think there are so many ways how this challenge is made. And I have to admit that what donald said is through, when I think of your work I always hink about a lot of organic and flowerish tangles, and this tile is so not your normal expression. But ... Stil i think you did a great job, your grid and patterns are great drawn, and most of all IQ can understand the not shading thing,

Very different for you - but it still has the attention to detail, and lovely variety that you are great at. I really do like this tile - don't throw it away!

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, clerk, and appreciator of art. Sometimes I try to produce some art myself. Mainly I love the art of others. Doodling has been a big part of my life. Notes were never left unadorned. Now that I have found zentangle....doodling has become more exciting and fun! I hope you enjoy.
