So today we are supposed to get rid of the box.....my box is big....I use color, black and white, nontraditional papers, strings, no strings....hummm. So the result.....aluminium foil. Yep, I pulled off a sheet and folded it so there were 4 sides. Then I drew on the top....The ink didn't stay there and so when I turned it over it was embossed. Yay, that made me happy. Now the only problem was that when I tried to get a photo it looked like this..... It is hard to get a photo without a ton of reflection.....so in editing I inverted the color and this is what happened. I think I will have to play with this more, see if I can figure out a way to use paint or something.....it is cool to have embossed zentangle. I have been wanting to try this for a while and this week's challenge gave me just the right reason to do so. The first photo is after I craved the zentangle into the wood with a rotary tool and then washed the designs with watercolor. The second is the result after staining. It was fun....not exactly the fine work I would love to be able to do but this is my first try and I think I will be able to improve. I edited this one .....a little more contrast. This is the original. The reflection of color comes from my clothes and lightening when it is dark outside. I still haven't gotten the alcohol inks.....but I can hardly wait to give it a try. This one is not embossed...it is the top of the foil where I tangled.

Perhaps you can try it with alcohol ink? It is known to stick to metallic surfaces.

Such creative thinking...foil turns out to be a very interesting canvas! And inverting the colour makes the piece even more interesting. I love it, and will try it myself at some point!

I wish it was for real...as far as color goes but this was an edit. I was just introduced to alcohol Inks and metal tape from a friend and she actually gets this type of result.....so I will be trying to get something that will actually look this way in real life.

Well LeeAnne, I can always count on coming away from your page, delighted and inspired. The embossing is magical and the woodcarving makes me yearn for my woodworking days. Very lovely, both.

I love both the embossed foil and the etched wood - great ideas! I have some copper foil that I might try this technique on. The wood one is very special - I'd love to have something like that hanging on fence in the garden! Beautiful

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, clerk, and appreciator of art. Sometimes I try to produce some art myself. Mainly I love the art of others. Doodling has been a big part of my life. Notes were never left unadorned. Now that I have found zentangle....doodling has become more exciting and fun! I hope you enjoy.
